Sunday, January 23rd, 2011Pantone my Art: Exhibition group show, Zxerokool Artwork Recap: When I first got assigned the pantone color of “Fluorescent Pink” to create a series of artworks, I was initially worried because I had never done a predominantly pink based artwork series before. However I got the idea to take the usual saying “Real men wear pink” and subvert it by way of pop-culture-icon-portrait renderings of some of the most bad-ass anti-heroes in movie history. I call this series “Anti Heroes With Long Hair”, see if you can name all of them in the pics above & below…

I am currently working out how to process orders for my online store so please bear with me, will update again once they are available, much thanks for your interest. There are plans to eventually hold an exhibition where I can showcase more artworks from this “Fake Comic Book Covers” series, wish me luck ^_^

Fake Comic Covers Vol. 1: Beyond Good & Evil
“Dolphin’s Revenge” & “Dead Zombie Pandas”
Throughout the chronicles of time, the themes of humor, parody and tragedy have played a part in the gears that govern human existence. We are creatures of emotions, animals legitimized by the frames of civilization. As a species we have come to echo these undertones in both the consumption + creation of information and entertainment which often reflects the suppressed psychosis beneath the practiced veneer of our contemporary composure. This series brings to light the subtle cracks in the human psyche which occasionally manifests itself in the small spurts of insanity people might indulge in intermittently, like a fleeting cloud which pops in to say hello every now and then. These artworks are inspired by old pulp comic covers, horror movie posters and cartoons gone wrong.
